Meet David Boring: a nineteen-year-old security guard with a tortured inner life and an obsessive nature. When he meets the girl of his dreams, things begin to go awry: what seems too good to be true apparently is. And what seems truest in Boring's life is that, given the right set of circumstances (in this case, an orgiastic cascade of vengeance, humiliation and murder) the primal nature of humankind will come inexorably to the fore. Biographie
Daniel Clowes
Né en 1961 à Chicago, Daniel Clowes apprend à lire dans les comics des années 50 hérités d'un frère aîné. Au terme d'une enfance timide et solitaire, des études d'art au Pratt Institute de New York achèvent de le démoraliser. Il publie en 1989 chez Fantagraphics le premier numéro de Eightball, que Chris Ware considère aujourd'hui comme le plus grand comic-book de la fin du XX°siècle. La jeunesse des années 90 se reconnaît dans David Boring ou Ghost World, récits d'aliénation, misanthropes et mélancoliques, et leurs personnages que tourmentent le mal être adolescent et la difficulté du passage à l'âge adulte dans une Amérique suburbaine à la banalité mortifère. Le succès public vient avec l'adaptation de Ghost World au cinéma en 2001. Sacré romancier graphique, le Robert Crumb de la Génération X dessine notamment pour le très sérieux New York Times Magazine.
